Noun or Verb? Phenomenon or Profession? - Arvind Lodaya

The answer seems to be a no-brainer, right? However, we need to clarify both attributes sufficiently and the relationship between the two. At its broadest, "design" is any meaningful pattern, sequence or system observable by humans—a phenomenon. The key term is "meaningful" and that is what I want to draw your attention to. At its purest, the profession of "design" is all about meaning - making it and exchanging it.
